“Ice Princess” BinBon

BinBon is a Vietnamese female cosplayer, who is very famous in the DOTA 2 community in Vietnam. RGN managed to get an exclusive chat with this strong-willed girl.

RGN: Hello BinBon, could you tell us something about yourself?

BinBon: Hello everyone, my name is Bao Nhu but others often call me BinBon. I have played DOTA 2 for a long time but cannot remember exactly when I started (giggles). With 4 years of cosplay experience, I decided to cosplay DOTA 2 characters, which are considered to be among the most difficult to replicate.

RGN: DOTA 2 is not a game that many girls play. Is this because it is too difficult and also because the heroes in DOTA are quite "ugly"? So why do you like this game?

BinBon: Well, personally, I think the heroes in DOTA 2 are not ugly at all and the reason behind why I like the game was when I happened to see a DOTA 2 match in a bubble tea shop, while I was with a friend. I was attracted to Rylai at first sight and honestly, you cannot deny that the graphics in DOTA 2 are fantastic.

RGN: Your Rylai cosplay costume is very beautiful. Did you make it yourself?

BinBon: All my cosplay costumes are mostly tailor made. However, I make most of the accessories and props myself.

RGN: From what I know, made to order costumes are not cheap at all. If there was someone who wanted to subsidize or sponsor your costume costs, would you accept?

BinBon: Then I will be very happy because I would be able to better express myself and bring out the best in DOTA 2 characters for everyone to enjoy. In actual fact, the cost involved for cosplay costumes is not very expensive. However, cosplay costumes for DOTA 2 characters are a lot more expensive because they are a lot more intricate and detailed.

RGN: Do you have any other hobbies apart from DOTA 2 and cosplay?

BinBon: I enjoy playing other games and hanging out with friends, while occasionally writing Fan Fiction.

RGN: Any upcoming plans with regard to DOTA 2? Would you be keen to try your hand at being a DOTA 2 shout-caster?

BinBon: I will continue to cosplay DOTA 2 characters but I do not think that I am good enough to be a shout-caster because I have not played all the heroes in DOTA 2 and do not have an in-depth knowledge of competitive DOTA 2. However, I would be glad to write about DOTA 2 related news articles.

RGN: Could you let us in on which heroes you intend to cosplay in the near future?

BinBon: I am considering between Enchantress and Mirana.

RGN: In DOTA 2, some players would curse at you if you played badly. Have you ever been in that situation and what is your opinion of such players?

BinBon: Yes I have and I really hate these people. Even amateur players curse at professional players. However, we cannot hide from them. Thus, I often ignore or report such players.

RGN: One question on many of your fans’ mind. Do you have a boyfriend?

BinBon: That is a woman’s secret!

RGN: Finally, do you have any message to our RGN readers?

BinBon: I want to give a shout out to all my fans and I hope that Vietnamese DOTA 2 teams will soon be well known throughout the DOTA world. I hope to see Vietnamese DOTA 2 players compete on the global stage and make me proud!

RGN: Thank you very much for this interview. Here’s wishing you a happy new year with continued success in your DOTA 2 endeavours.
