Ohaiyo: "We will do better in the future."

Singaporean powerhouse Zenith and Malaysian powerhouse Neolution.Orange are two teams which undoubtedly come to mind when one thinks about the top DOTA 2 teams in South-East Asia. The dominance and rivalry between these two teams have had a long and tumultuous history going back to the early days of Nirvana.my and Aeon.sg. GosuGamers had a chance to speak with the ‘middleman’ for Neolution.Orange, Chong Xin ‘Ohaiyo’ Khoo in an exclusive interview.

With the constantly changing meta-game, both teams have been forced to adapt through roster changes and tactical innovation. For Neolution.Orange, the addition of Ohaiyo, as their new mid-laner, has worked wonders as they added three SEA championship titles to their name since the start of 2013.

Coming from MUFC, Ohaiyo was known for making big playes and producing consistent performances. During the interview, he acknowledged that his team has been performing well of late but insisted that their current teamwork “isn’t good enough yet”. “Especially me,” he added with a laugh. He reassured us, however, that their current training sessions have been going well.

While proud about his team’s achievements so far this year, he remains ambitious and revealed that his dream was still to participate in ‘The International’ this year. “I am aiming to be the champion!” he exclaimed. The big puzzle for Neolution.Orange right now is how they were going to deal with the Chinese powerhouses namely LGD, DK, and needless to say, defending The International champions Invictus Gaming.

Aside from these Chinese heavyweights, Ohaiyo also noticed the rise of Filipino teams and he listed up and coming teams such as MSI-evoGT.TnC, Mineski, and Dreamz. According to Ohayio, the Philippines will pose a challenge to his team’s quest for South-East Asia dominance.

At the end of the interview, Ohaiyo said that with their current 6 player roster, Mushi still has the final say on who would play, although he will be moving into more of a coaching role in future. For the full interview, check out the original feature by GosuGamers.
