Match Day 12 of the RGN FIFA Champions’ League returns this Sunday after all 5 fixtures were somehow cancelled last weekend. Newly crowned WCG Malaysia champion leOmeS kicks things off against KunKun at 3pm, before El Rey looks to get his season back on track after 2 consecutive losses last time out.
Infinite.leOmeS (MY) vs 3H|KunKun (VN), Sunday 3pm
After seeing his lead at the top of the table cut to just 2 points following Zarate’s withdrawal, leOmeS has the perfect opportunity to pull away from second placed hibidi who is not in action this weekend. His first test of the day will be against a resurgent KunKun, who has put together 3 consecutive wins since his poor early season form. With only 6 games left to play, neither player can afford to drop any points in the championship race.
Flash.El Rey (SG) vs 3H|KunKun (VN), Sunday 3.30pm
El Rey was comprehensively beaten in his previous outing against leOmeS, and will need to play much better against KunKun. At the start of match day 12, the young Singaporean finds himself outside the top 3 for the first time this season, and defeat against the in-form Vietnamese would push him further down to 5th in the table.
Si_jali (MY) vs Flash.El Rey (SG), Sunday 4pm
Days after announcing his intention to retire from eSports at the end of this season’s Champions’ League, Malaysian veteran si_jali comes up against a youngster at the start of his career. Their previous encounter ended in a sluggish 0-0 draw, but with both players in desperate need of points, we could see a more open contest this Sunday.
TH.Nonii9 (TH) vs si_jali (MY), Sunday 4.30pm
Nonii9 kicks off his FIFA 14 campaign against Malaysia’s FIFA legend, and the Thai player will be desperate for points. Nonii9 has slipped to 8th in the table with just 9 points, and is a long way off from finishing in the money by the end of the season. However, with both players recognized for playing slow possession games, a repeat of their previous 0-0 meeting is very possible.
MiTH.KirosZ (TH) vs Infinite.leOmeS (MY), Sunday 5pm
Sunday’s teatime fixture is a must-win game for KirosZ. The MiTH player has 6 games left to save his league status, and is still stuck on 1 point from 10 matches. Every game from here on out will be like a cup final to him, starting with league leader leOmeS this weekend. Given the Malaysian’s hot streak, an upset is highly unlikely, but it is what KirosZ sorely needs.
