RGN FIFA Champions League: Week 10 preview
The RGN FIFA Champions' League returns this Sunday after its mid-season break. With all Malaysian players involved in WCG Malaysia qualifying, the first round of FIFA 14 fixtures will feature just two matches: hibidi vs KirosZ and Hakumenfox vs KunKun. Hibidi and the two Vietnamese players have the opportunity to make up ground on the league leaders, while KirosZ will be looking to move off the foot of the table with a win.
Flash.hibidi (SG) vs MiTH.KirosZ (TH), Sunday 3pm
MiTH's KirosZ has had an awful season, but has also picked up 4 points from his past two games, suggesting that he may finally be ready to turn the corner. He may be on course to extend his unbeaten run to 3 games against an erratic hibidi, who has failed to keep a clean sheet since early August.
Hibidi sits 6 points behind league leader leOmeS and 5 behind his teammate El Rey. With both of them inactive this weekend, match day 10 represents a huge opportunity for hibidi to apply pressure on them ahead of his week 11 clash with El Rey.
In the previous hibidi-KirosZ meeting, the Singaporean grabbed a 90th minute winner after going behind early in the game. KirosZ will be hoping for another strong start on Sunday, but will need to improve on his 3 goals conceded average if he is to come away with anything from this encounter.
3H|KunKun (VN) vs proA.Hakumenfox (VN), Sunday 3.30pm
Hakumenfox stormed to an impressive 5-2 win over KunKun when the two met in match day 7, but the form guide suggests this game will be a much closer contest. KunKun ended the FIFA 13 leg of the league with vital wins against Nonii9 and Vin, lifting him to sixth in the table after previous languishing in and around the drop-zone. He will be hoping to make it 3 wins in a row against his compatriot.
Hakumenfox’s fortunes have been the exact opposite of KunKun’s. After winning 4 games in a row and sitting pretty in the top 3, two morale-sapping losses against leOmeS and hibidi have left him on 14 points along with 3 other players (hibidi, KunKun and Vin).
The opportunity to close the gap on leOmeS will be running through the minds of these two players come Sunday. A win here would certainly spark a championship push from now till the end of the season.
