TI3 Australia Pubstomp at Crown's Superbox
Here is a special interview with Kyuchii, a former competitive player in Malaysia who's now pursuing his studies in Australia! Catching him for an interview just as he made Pubstomp the official TI3 venue prior to him being the sole event organizer, we had quite a talk as he shared his dreams of making this fun event for all local Dota 2 enthusiasts.
Hi there! With regards to the official TI3 Pubstomp announcement on the website, how did it happen and for what purpose?
Basically, I am doing this out of fun and passion of being a Dota 2 player. So if I were to organize this happening eSport event, I'll try to make it as big as possible. Indirectly, it will give me certain prestige that reflects the way I do marketing business.
So how has the turnout been for the first day of TI3? Were there free beers?
The event will start at proper on the 11th of August which is the 5th day of the prestigious grand tournament at Benaroya Hall. So in conjunction, we have sold out 177 tickets within 4 days prior to the event that's going to be held at Crown's Superbox, a casino near Melbourne city.
Do you feel awesome for providing such a great service to those who love Dota here in Australia?
Of course I do! On top of organizing this event, I have the privilege to watch the games as well!
Do you think that what you've done here with pubstomp helps the local eSports scene?
Yes, typically it helps broaden the general knowledge of what eSports is like and it also brings in social aspects when it comes to playing competitive games or casual mode.
As a former competitive player back int Malaysia, what's your take on the local gaming scene versus Malaysia's?
Malaysia definitely has more LAN tournaments which promotes and result in competitiveness and strong teams that resides in the country. You could say I really missed Malaysia sometimes. As for Australia scene, the competitiveness is still very low even in bustling cities like Melbourne. But with all these influences of late, more tournaments are popping up and this will lead to more professional teams in the future.
How do you think Australia gamers will build on your Pusbstomp event?
Hopefully, they will blend in the social and gaming culture that I brought from experiences living at Malaysia and so that they have more passion towards eSports as it's never too late in electronic sports! Finding sponsors for possible tournaments could be possible if the scene starts to grow!
Before we end the interview any shoutouts to sponsors and organizations out there?
Shoutouts to Valve , Edwin"Zhen"Tan, Crown Casino, TteSports, Vinnicave.com, John"TotalFrenzy" Murphy, Xplicit Renaissance, mum & dad?! Stay tune for more possible Ministry of Gaming events!
