RGN Elite FIFA League Week 8 Preview

The RGN FIFA Elite League returns this weekend with arguably its best round of fixtures yet. Hakumenfox and leOmeS square off in the league’s summit meeting, while Flash eSports’ El Rey and hibidi go head to head at 3.30pm.

1. Flash.El Rey (SG) vs Infinite.leOmeS (MY) LIVE on Sunday at 3pm

El Rey has fallen off the pace in recent weeks, but will look to resurrect his season with victory over leOmeS - a player who has been in red-hot form the entire season. The Malaysian has only conceded in 2 games with a solid 4231 Real Madrid setup, and will be looking to pull further ahead of the rest of the chasing pack.

El Rey has tinkered with his team formation in recent weeks, vacillating between Fred and Lucas Moura to lead his line. He may yet opt for Lucas again, with leOmeS well known for being vulnerable against lofted through balls.

2. Flash.El Rey (SG) vs Flash.hibidi (SG) LIVE on Sunday at 3.30pm

El Rey takes on his team captain immediately after his game against leOmeS. Hibidi has been well off the pace this season, and has been significantly upstaged by El Rey. Both players will want to prove themselves as their country’s top player, and will surely be playing for more than just points today.

This game will be a Brazil-Brazil match up with slight differences in team selection. El Rey has favored a Paulinho-Gustavo midfield pairing, while hibidi has preferred Hernanes-Paulinho. Singapore will be watching keenly to see which doctrine reigns supreme.

3. proA.Hakumenfox.leOmeS (VN) vs Infinite.leOmeS (MY)

leOmeS’ game in hand comes against the in-form Hakumenfox. The Vietnam ace has won 4 in a row, and will feel confident of extending his winning run this weekend. Hakumenfox’s 4-1-2-1-2 formation has been a breath of fresh air for the league. He has been able to stay defensively solid while maintaining his free-flowing attack going forward. leOmeS will have his work cut out for him this afternoon, and we’re expecting a cracking game from two of the league’s best players.

4. TH.Nonii9 (TH) vs 3H|KunKun (VN)

Nonii9 and KunKun and 6^th and 7^th in the table respectively, and will both look to take maximum points from this game to keep up with the chasing pack. KunKun will also be nervously looking over his shoulder, with Zarate finally notching his first win last weekend. If Nonii9 and KunKun aren’t careful, they could very easily be dragged into a relegation dogfight.

5. proA.Hakumenfox (VN) vs Flash.hibidi (SG) LIVE on Sunday at 5pm

The WCG legends from Vietnam and Singapore clash in today’s teatime kickoff. Depending on how the rest of the games go, these two players could be looking at an assault on the summit by the time this game kicks off.

Hibidi’s possession-based approach will come in direct contrast to Hakumenfox’s back-to-front style. The Vietnamese will need his sole midfield anchor of Sami Khedira to protect his backline, with hibidi constantly dominating possession just outside his opponent’s penalty area. If Hakumenfox is able to shut down hibidi’s attacks and break quickly, he could get plenty of joy sending long balls into the channels for Ronaldo and Benzema to chase.

6. MiTH.KirosZ (TH) vs Zarate (SG)

Despite a morale-boosting win against si_jali last weekend, Zarate will be well aware of the fact that he is still embroiled in a relegation battle. His opponent KirosZ is still looking for his first points of the season (yes we’ve been saying this for the past month). Zarate and KirosZ have experimented with Brazil, Real Madrid and Italy in past outings, and we wait to see what teams and formations they choose to select on Monday.
