DotA 2 Challenge Tournament: The Evolution Vietnam 2012 was officially closed, marked the first impression of the most expected MOBA gaming tile in over the world in Vietnam.

The first DotA 2 tournament in Vietnam was held with the large scale where the teams would compete to each other at two 2 big cities in Vietnam, HCM City and Hanoi. After successful registration, teams would receive 6 free DotA 2 keys, which was convenient for teams to train and learn more about the game. We can see that this was a careful preparation of the organizer, so we can fully understand the number of the 26 teams participating in the very first DotA 2 tournament in Vietnam.

In two competitive days, under the tight supervision of experienced referees in organizing of the tournament, the first games started without any problems occured. The team had attended the random draw to find out their competitors.

After the drastic and stressful qualifier in BO3 formation to point out the eight seeded teams, the teams continued to play the next round by single elimination format. That means there was no second chance for mistakes. Because of the tight in the competitive law, even before the tournament took place, plus with the heat of the game, the DotA 2 Challenge: The Evolution Vietnam 2012 had attracted many interests of the community, including the DotA veteran gamers.

The heat of the competition became pervasive when the fateful cards led to the early final match between MixTeamFriend (Skynet) and StarsBoba. Proved to be the top teams in Vietnam, both teams have devoted the spectaculars combat scenes, very dramatic competition for the audience at Boba Net and Cyzone (at 2 bridge competition); as well as the audiences were watching on live stream. After the spectacular race of both teams, finally, MixTeamFriend won outstanding, forced Starsboba to stop the game after the first round.

It seemed like the “easy” path for MixTeamFriend after that, but they were going to face with the harder obstacle, GameWareWAM.

GWAM is the former of GameWareWAM, one of the top teams in the Hanoi area. On the threshold of the tournament, GWAM and MixFriendTeam had trained together, so they both knew all about their opponents. That had made hearts of viewers beat faster from time to time while watching the chasing performance of two teams in the final ground.

As mentioned above, because the final match was played in Bo1 format, so in the last minute, there was just a small omission in the combat combination, which has led MixTeamFriend to get a chance to take advantage and captured the victory, finished the match with results cannot be more convincing. Due to proper strategic thinking and unity among the team members, MixTeamFriend won the championship, became one of the first Vietnamese "DotA 2 kings".

During two dramatic and intensive days of competition, Vietnamese eSports community likes a desert needs rain and new wind from the DotA 2. Although the tournament was not widely advertised in various mass media, in this new established community, what they have achieved, according to the evaluation is successful over their expectations.

With this success, the organizer hopes to have more motivation to organize more DotA 2 tournaments in the future with the more appealing prizes, contribute to the development of Vietnamese eSports community.
