Evil Geniuses sends Dignitas home despite a slow start

Despite the slow start in both Games 1 and 2, USAEvil Geniuses was able to send USADignitas packing after just 2 games. They will now face USATeam Liquid, the team they defeated during Round 2 of the Winners' Bracket which they won 2:1.

In Game 1, USAEG went for an aggressive tri-lane to basically shut down or at least slow down the farm of Luna.

In the very first minute of the game, USAEG was able to take advantage of Chen camping in the jungle as they got first blood on Luna.

In the middle lane, Storm Spirit was having the time of his life as he had perfect creep kill but that was not the case for Clinkz in the bottom lane as Warlock was able to harass him and even forced him to go back to base.

At the 8 minute mark, USAEG tried to gank Magnus in the middle lane but unfortunately for them, great timing from Warlock turned the gank around. However, this gave Clinkz room to farm and he duly obliged and took advantage, as he was able to farm up his Orchid of Malevolence after about 15 minutes.

With the lineup that USADignitas had, they decided to group up early and looked for pickoffs and try to take down towers.

As the game progressed, USADignitas was slowly taking control of the game and basically negated the strengths of USAEG's lineup.

At the 22 minute mark, USAEG pushed the middle lane and focused on the tier-2 tower where Rubick was able to steal Reverse Polarity from Magnus that turned the team-fight around.

A few minutes later, USADignitas was able to take down all of USAEG 's outer towers after destroying the bottom tier-2 tower.

At the 28 minute mark, USADignitas looked to secure the Aegis of the Immortal but had to back off which gave USAEG the opening to take the Aegis of the Immortal for themselves. After that, USADignitas immediately engaged and was able to kill off four heroes.

After a few minutes, USADignitas decided to push the middle lane and was able to take the middle tier-3 tower but at the cost of four heroes after a great Chaotic Offering(Golem) steal from Rubick. USAEG then decided to push the middle lane but unfortunately, they lost both Storm Spirit and Lifestealer which gave USADignitas the opening to take the middle barracks and top tier-3 tower.

After that, USAEG grouped up and was able to pickoff Magnus and Jakiro and things got worse for USADignitas as USAEG took down the middle and bottom melee barracks, then secured the Aegis of the Immortal as well.

USADignitas decided to go for a final desperate push via the top lane but unfortunately for them, USAEG team wiped them which forced out the "GG" call from USADignitas.

In Game 2, USADignitas went for a greedy lineup after picking up a support Beastmaster, while USAEG went for a typical lineup.

At around the 2 minute mark, Templar Assassin, with a haste rune, and Rubick over-extended in the middle lane and dived Chaos Knight and Io between the tier-1 and tier-2 tower and were duly punished as Chaos Knight got first blood on Rubick.

USADignitas is controlling the game in the early stages but at the 10 minute mark, USAEG was able to get a much needed break after punishing the over-extension from USADignitas, killing off three heroes.

At the 17 minute mark, USADignitas over-committed when killing Batrider and USAEG duly responded and got four kills in exchange.

After a few forced team-fights from USADignitas, the momentum gradually shifted in favour of USAEG as they were just getting kills all over the map whereas USADignitas was forced to sit back and farm, despite the Chaos Knight and Io combo on their side.

At the 38 minute mark, USAEG was able to secure the Aegis of the Immortal as USADignitas decided not to contest but instead continue farming. However, USADignitas decided to engage just a minute later despite Chaos Knight's Black King Bar still on cooldown after a miss-click while he was farming which basically led to three kills in favour of USAEG. While that was happening, Weaver was trying to take down the top tier-3 tower and forced USAEG to teleport back instead of pushing and try to take down a barracks. USAEG quickly regrouped and pushed the middle lane where they were able to destroy the tier-3 tower and later won a huge team-fight that forced out the "GG" call from USADignitas.
