Fistful of Tangoes & BTS Weekend Cup
Beyond The Summit came up with a weekend cup last weekend which featured four teams with the grand prize of $500 eventually going to Team Liquid. They also broadcasted the Finals of the 1v1 tournament Fistful of Tangoes, where EG’s Fear defeated NoTidehunter’s s4 to take home the championship title and $340 in cash.
BTS had announced a Weekend Cup with four teams namely NoTidehunter, Team Liquid, Virtus.Pro and Fnatic.Eu taking part in the tournament. All the tournament matches were to be played in a Best of 3 format with the Final announced as a Best of 5 format.
However, due to Liquid’s obligation in The Defense 3 tournament, the organisers of the Weekend Cup had to change the Final to a BO3 format instead. This did not cripple the entertainment value for viewers as the Final went down the wire with the deciding rubber game.
In the earlier rounds, Team Liquid defeated NoTidehunter with a score of 2-1 while the match between Fnatic and Virtus Pro ended with a similar scoreline with Fnatic advancing to the Final. Both teams displayed some excellent skills during the finals with Team Liquid emerging victorious over Fnatic.
Along with the Weekend Cup, fans were able to witness the conclusion of the Fistful of Tangoes 1v1 Tournament this same weekend. The Fistful of Tangoes Final was played between Fear from team Evil Geniuses and s4 from NoTidehunter. Fear had entered the Final from the winners’ bracket as he did not drop a single game during the course of the tournament and s4 was not able to break his winning streak in the Final.
