The Korean gaming company, Nexon Co. has confimed that they will distribute DOTA 2 in Japan and Korea. Valve Corporation recently approved on the agreement as they want the Asia market continue enjoying the game.
DotA was originally designed by Icefrog as a map for the classic strategy game StarCraft, based on WarCraft III: Frozen Throne. Together Valve Corporation, they developed DOTA 2. The game was first witnessed last year on GamesCom at Cologne, Germany. $1,000,000 was up for grabs in first ever DOTA 2 tournament, The International.
Here's the official statement of the Chief Executive Officer of Nexon, Min Seo.
"We are very excited about working with Valve to publish DOTA 2 and build on the worldwide momentum of the highly successful franchise. We look forward to providing players in Japan and Korea the opportunity to experience this exciting new game."
Valve Corporation's Gabe Newell also released his statement regarding the distribution.
"Nexon, a company with whom we have a long and strong relationship, was clearly the right choice as a publisher to successfully deliver Dota 2 into the Korean and Japanese market. Partnering with Nexon will allow us to deliver DOTA 2 to a massive audience of Asian gamers via a premium service."
