RGN FIFA Elite: Match Day 1 Review

 

The first season of the RGN FIFA Champions’ League kicked off on Saturday, the 6th of July, and it was Singapore’s Erwyn ‘El Rey’ Shah who surprisingly found himself at the top of the table at the end of the first weekend of fixtures.

 

El Rey kicked off his campaign with an impressive 4-2 win over KirosZ, but his post-match comments will not have gone down well with his opponent. The Singapore rookie labeled KirosZ “an easy opponent”, showing his Thai counterpart little respect.

 

In the second Singapore-Thailand clash, nonii9 came away with all 3 points against hibidi after scoring a late winner. A lapse of concentration from the Singapore veteran playing the ball out of defence cost him dear, as nonii9’s Mesut Ozil steered the ball into the top corner of the net in the 87th minute to secure a valuable opening day victory.

Elsewhere, Zarate and Hakumenfox played out a tame 1-1 draw, as did si_jali and KunKun.

 

The all-Malaysian clash between leOmeS and Vin was meant to be a tight affair, but ended up being very one-sided. leOmeS stormed to a 2-0 half-time lead, and was rarely threatened from that point on. Malaysia’s ESWC 2011 representative exposed Vin’s lack of defensive cover in the middle of the pitch, with both goals coming off incisive passing moves.
