RGN Open League Preview
With the inaugural season of the RGN FIFA Champions' League a couple of months from its conclusion, the search has begun for the league's participants in season 2.
Top players from the Open Cups will join Southeast Asia’s elite in the Champions’ League next season
Like the Champions' League, the Open Cups will be played entirely online on FIFA 14 PC. Participants will be happy to know that they have a unique opportunity to play with SEA's most talented players from the comfort of their homes.
The Open Cups are perfect for serious players who feel that they possess the qualities needed to play in the Champions' League. Through these monthly cups, they have the opportunity to qualify for SEA's biggest regional online FIFA tournament. The series also provides an effective platform for new players to gain experience, since all current Champions' League participants are forbidden from taking part.
These online cups are free to enter and will pay out top prizes of 100 SGD per cup. Player registration is capped at 32 players, with RGN premium members receiving sign up priority. (Click here to sign up for an RGN premium account)
At the time of writing, RGN is still undecided with regard to the exact number of players that will compete in the league next year, and so the final number of players joining the Champions' League from the Open Cups will be anything between 4-8 players.
Players will compete for the right to play against top SEA players like leOmeS in next year’s Champions’ League
4 Open Cups will be played in the tournament's first season, with the first of the lot scheduled for Sunday, 27 October. Each cup will be played on the final weekend of each month, and like the Singapore FIFA Cup, players will be ranked based on a cumulative points system as follows:
Champion: 10 points
Runner up: 8 points
3rd & 4th: 5 points each
5th-8th: 2 points each
The players who accumulate the most points over the 4 cups will be selected to represent their countries in next season's SEA FIFA Champions' League. Registration opens soon, so follow the official RGN Facebook page for timely updates on the FIFA Open Cups.
