After weeks of holidays and vacation, the DotA scene in the Philippines is now back. As Mineski presents the kickoff of Gigabyte Mineski Pro Gaming League (GMPGL) and National collegiate cyber league (NCCL) this 18-19 of January. This event might be the last tournament that Mineski, MSI, Dreamz and other Class S teams will be participating in preparation to their full transition to DotA2.
GMPGL Encore and NCCL will be played in the venue that started it all, “Cyberzone” SM North Edsa Annex. GMPGL class s teams will be battling it out for a winner takes all Php5, 000. We saw how dominating Pinoy teams in the Asian region was last December during Sendi Mutiara Multimedia Grand national dota finals (SMMGND) event in Malaysia. All 4 Filipino teams played well and progress into the final four of the tournament. SMM was eventually won by Pacific e-Sports.
The other tournament that will kick-off is the NCCL, this leg will have no bearing on the upcoming seasons of NCCL 2013. 7 different universities was invited to compete in this event, Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University, College of St. Benilde, Centro Escolar University, Lyceum of the Philippines, and Technological institute of the Philippines.
Third place of NCCL will receive Php 2,000 while the runner-up will have Php 3,000 and the grand champion of this tournament will be Php 5,000 richer.
