After Loda's thought-provoking blog post on the issues of legitimizing eSports and the low salaries that DOTA 2 players face, another major industry player has opened up. Marco A. Fernandez, CEO of Speed Gaming and Founder of Netolic.TV, has responded by saying that he had "respect towards (Loda's) thinking" and had thus revealed all 5 current Speed Gaming players' contracts for the public, as well as the contract with his investors (which unfortunately is currently only available in Chinese), in this Facebook post.
It is certainly a huge step in the process of legitimizing eSports, which is to promote transparency. Will others follow in his footsteps, or will they shy away from the spotlight and refuse to have anything to do with this? We will only find out in time to come.
The original 2011 article by Frank Fields of IGN in legitimizing eSports can be found here.
Edit:
Loda has responded on Facebook by sharing the link and praising Marco Fernandez, saying, "Very good move from Mark and Speed-gaming. Making contracts open to the public!"
