Easy to please

My childhood

I started to play games when I was 7 or 8 years old. My cousin was the first man who “poisoned” me when he took me to game cyber. At that time, all the cybers had only console games like SNES or SEGA. The first games which I had ever played were Mario or Battle City. It was too far from now so I couldn’t remember exactly.

When I was a child, I was interested in playing with paper photos or toys, just like others. I particularly enjoyed watching cartoons on TV. My cousins and I used to gather at my grandmother’s house and played fighting with superhero toys.

Love for games

I used to play various types of game on many different platforms. However, because lacking of money, I didn’t have many chances to try on the next-gen platforms. I especially enjoyed the simulation games and Final Fantasy series. I didn’t notice how long to break a game, but it must be completed for one hundred percent. So extremely excited when I have completed a game, but sometimes, walking-through instructions on Internet was a trick.

Final Fantasy was the game which I have the deepest impression. This game made me feel like I threw myself to an adventure in another world. Currently, I’m sticking with the RTS games, some MMORPG and MOBA games. I don’t like FPS games much, but sometimes I play them for fun.

I am a gamer

My very first competition was a DotA tournament at Net Viet cyber in Ha Noi. At that time, winning or losing was not be my interest. Our opponent was much stronger than us. I was quite nervous and had some amateur moves, and even became a burden of my team. After that defeat, I still desired to win. However, the path of becoming a professional gamer was not for me.

With my parents, playing games is something not helpful. However, no one prevented me to play games. As a gamer, I have to sacrifice something. I used to take time to train hard and withstand much pressure. But I think it was never in vain.

In 2007, I joined the team hTL (How to lose), and then some other teams, but not significantly. I played as a supporter in our team at that time. There was one time I played as a carrier in an important match, but unfortunately, we failed. Later, our team was disbanded when two key members switched to another team. Until now, I still deeply appreciate all the things that my first captain Bi Ren (now playing Heroes of Newerth) had shown me when I was in his team. The most memorable to me was the happy feeling to be wearing the orange T-shirt of the WCG 2008. The last tournament that I participated in was an online tournament of VnB-Garena in 2009.

In Garena

I have worked in Garena Vietnam JSC since 2009. At that time, I was an apprentice editor who analyzed DotA replays. In one day, I had to watch approximate 20 replays, so I thought the world might not have enough replays for me. In 2010, I became managing editor of DotA on the Garena homepage. In 2011, I served as an editor-in-chief of Garena.vn, managing the entire eSports page of Garena, the forum of Garena, video site of Garena, the fanpage of Garena Vietnam on Facebook...

While working in Garena, I feel happy to work with my companions who are expertise and have sociable character. However, I also feel sad because many ex-companions have gone, for various reasons, leaving many intended which never become reality.

My girlfriend

My girlfriend is a famous face among Vietnamese gaming community. She is June – Dinh Hong Phuong, ex-member of ProA team. June and I have had a long time working together in Garena Vietnam JSC, and we were referees in Asian Indoor Games 2009. We had a memorable trip to the Singapore for reporting the ACG 2010. We have learned a lot from each other and shared much experience about our jobs.

In my opinion, June has a great personality and she is very good in all respects. We have been close to each other for a long time.

My dreams

In my childhood, I wanted to be a superhero. Of course, it was impossible and that dream never comes true. Now all I wanted is to make more money. It is a pragmatic dream but I feel it is completely reasonable and realistic.

Like it always does, I still get nervous before each tournament although now I am a referee or a member of organizing committee. Someone asked me how to balance between life and games, I think no one can recognize and balance these two issues. Just going through a period of game addiction, one can distinguish the difference between a normal life and a gaming life.

Recently, I have cherished many plans for my future. I’ve learned from my past a lot of valuable experiences which people never played any game in their life would never have.
