The Arrival of Japanese War Machines
Armored warriors forged out of the Land of the Rising Sun will be making their long awaited debut on Wargaming’s massively popular MMO, World of Tanks, as announced by the developer yesterday. Having recently launched Patch 8.8, the UK based company plans to add to the exhaustive stable of armored vehicles five more light tanks, as well as nine medium ones.
This army of 14 is set to include several popular and well known combat vehicles such as the Chi-Ri prototype, the light Type 95 Ha-Go tank (as seen below), and the medium Chi-Ha tanks. In addition, Wargaming plans to move the Type 64 (SB-1) tanks into the Tier 10 range and have them reclassified in the medium class instead.
The Japanese Imperial Army of the late 1920s produced a massive number of tanks in their war with China and used them to good effect throughout their campaigns. Reserving most of their best designs and machinery for the defense of the Japanese Home Islands, tank enthusiasts will no doubt be thrilled at the opportunity to operate some of these fine engineering marvels that have so rarely seen the light of day since.
Japan will be the seventh country to have their tanks written into the game, the six before it being; China, France, Germany, Great Britain, USSR and USA.
Game producer, Mikhail Zhivets, spoke proudly of the Japanese additions in a comment found in the press statement. “The introduction of Japanese tanks allows us to explore the design and innovation of a number of legendary armored vehicles and give players the chance to experience their technological evolution throughout the mid-20th century.”
"Tank models based on original designs of Japanese engineers will offer players a wide selection of authentic upgrade schemes, each tailored for particular combat objectives,” he said.
