RGN: Hello elgee can you please introduce yourself and your team to us?
Elgee: Hello, my Name is Jupiter Mars a.k.a ” Elgee" Gaboy, team captain of MSI EvoGT.TNC – First Person Shooter Team and my teammates are Judan " Kart" Cruz, James Michael "Nasmi" Doron, Royce Bentley "r4mpage" Omaga and Dale " Dhalee" Duque. Our team represented the Philippines for the recently concluded WCG 2012 – Crossfire held in Kunshan, China.
RGN: Of all games / FPS games why did you choose to play Crossfire?
Elgee: First of all, the gameplay is very similar to Counterstrike and the community is bigger compared to other FPS games here in the Philippines. Also, it is one of the Official Game Titles in this year’s World Cyber Games Grand Finals – The biggest e-Sport event in the world.
RGN: How did you form this great team?
Elgee: I think one of the keys to have an excellent team is "Friendship" - in and outside the game. Friendship builds trust, confidence, pact, bond that you will do well together and you can surpass any hardships that may come to the team. We are really close to each other, and we don’t have any issues or problems within the team. Usually, the problem in most teams is they don’t have the right people to start the team attitude-wise. They all just form for the sake of joining tournaments; I believe there should be a deep foundation when forming a team and that is “FRIENDSHIP”. We stay through the bad times and of course we will be together on the good times.
We always think that it will be our last performance while enjoying every single game that we play. We just play and give all that we can, without pressuring one another, win or lose. No matter the outcome of our games, we are still very happy and we treat one another as brothers not just a team and a means to an end.
RGN: What is the most memorable thing that happened in you in at the WCG 2012?
Elgee: There are a lot of memorable things this year, but the most memorable thing is when we were able to take home the WCG Bronze Medal, although its only third place. It’s the first and the farthest achievement in the WCG Philippines history. The thought of going up to the stage to claim the award was really remarkable and awesome experience. Other than that, meeting new friends from different countries, meeting our idols from other games and seeing fans and people you don’t even know wanting to take your autograph and pictures was pretty amazing as well.
RGN: What do you think you happen when you lose the chance to be the champion in WCG GF?
Elgee: To be honest, I was saddened when we lost to team Russia during the group stage match. The result was we were matched up with the 2-time WCG-CF Champion Team - China in the Semi-finals. They were really good, I know my team did our best and did every single strategy that we can pull off. It’s just that they were really too strong for us. Their team play blew us off, they were very organized and their strategies are very precise.
RGN: Who inspires you the most to go this far?
Elgee: For me of course, my wife because I’m afraid of her, hahahaha!! Kidding aside, she supports me all the way in my gaming career and never stops believing me. As a team, we were motivated after losing during the PCL Manila Leg 2 Finals, we knew we can do better and there was more room for improvement. If it wasn’t for that loss, we will not be motivated to do better.
The people around us also inspire us to do better, MSI Philippines, Steelseries Philippines, and The Net.Com Gaming, our CRISTAL family that we treat as brothers and sisters, our family and relatives, who stayed behind and still believed in us and continued giving us their overwhelming support, WIN or LOSE.
RGN: Are you still planning on playing CF next year?
Elgee: We don’t really know what will happen next. We still need to talk about that. Being Top 3 in WCG is like a dream come true for us and it is not something you give up. For now, we need to defend and preserve our country’s pride in the next WCG hahaha! We are hopeful that this will be the start of something great for Philippine e-sports!
RGN: Any message to your fans?
Elgee: Thank you for the exquisite support you’ve given to our team. Although we were not able to access Facebook or check online and update you guys, we knew that we have your support and prayers with us.
Also thank you for the Chinese fans, we never knew that we can have a status of being a rock star. People asking for our autographs, asking you for pictures were a great feeling. With this, our objective next year is to get a world championship, hopefully in the Vietnam International CrossFire tournament.
RGN: Again congratulations to you and your team for being the third placer in WCG Crossfire. Any greetings or shout out?
Elgee: Shout outs to our sponsors MSI Philippines, Steelseries Philippines and The Net.Com, thank you so much. Shout outs to Fg.Hammertime(USA), FG.Carnage(Canada), Team Freedom(Vietnam), Bovines(Singapore), PVP-SEA(Philippines, World of Tanks), our CRISTAL family, our family and relatives, Sir Lon Marcelo the most explosive!, Sir JV of RGN, Direk Ben, Gameclub Philippines, and to all who watched and kept track of our journey in WCG Grand Finals, THANK YOU!! WE LOVE YOU!! WE BELIEVE!
