RGN: When did you started gaming?
SkyNet.Lonely: I had the chance to pick up gaming very early. My father bought me the first 4 buttons electronic machine (PC game) for me when I was 4 years old and he is also the person who lead me into the gaming. I liked the feeling when I am falling into the game because it contains many different interesting elements.
When I was older, and computers were available. Whenever I got a day off in school, I and my neighbour friends would meet each other at the cyber cafe to play Quake or Starcraft. At that time, there were not many games for us to choose. After that, Internet was developed and I tried playing games online but perhaps I was not suitable to games online but I finally played DotA.
RGN: What do you feel in DotA that attracted you more than other games?
SkyNet.Lonely: It is tactical. Every step, every decision you choose has to be considered carefully. DotA requires you to practice and train which means that you cannot dominate the game with money like in some online games.
RGN: Did your family, friends and relatives know that you are a professional DotA game player?
SkyNet.Lonely: My friends and family share my passion but I understand that I have to balance between my studies and my job so I am not distracted.
RGN: You have a supportive family. To achieve success being a professional DotA game player, training is an important factor. Can you describe a typical day of your training?
SkyNet.Lonely: My training day always begins at noon after having lunch in Skynet(the cyber cafe where I am playing). Firstly, I usually hit some pub games as a start and I’ll make an appointment with another team for competition. Normally, the training time will end at 7pm. But in some cases, such as having arrangement with foreign teams or with some stronger team, it will be longer.
RGN: Can you talk about your team?
SkyNet.Lonely: I am a member of Skynet, a team which is pretty reputable in Vietnam. I feel very happy to play with my great teammates. In the game, we are allies. Outside the game, we are friends, brothers, family. Our team has been through many failures and efforts to achieve the success we have now.
RGN: Which tournament have you attended that is unforgettable?
SkyNet.Lonely: It is certainly the Garena Online Premium System because it brought all the top teams in Vietnam together, especially StarsBoba. To me, during the final game was the most unforgettable moment. We had the advantage from branches and a simple win in the 1st game. After quickly winning the 2nd game, I thought the championship firmly our hands. Starsboba began to show their skills. They won the next two consecutive games and put everything even. At that time, my team agreed to play “Gank” instead of “Turtle” (the hottest way in that version till now). Eventually, we emerge victorious with God’s blessing.
RGN: Currently, are you preparing for any tournaments?
SkyNet.Lonely: Now I am preparing for ASUS ROG Tournaments. My team is analyzing the replays of the strong teams, especially StarsBoba as well as training strategies to compete against them.
RGN: Who is your favourite game player? Why?
SkyNet.Lonely: My favourite player is our very own latest member, Kazu. He is brilliant in 2 positions: ganker and carrier. Kazu is known as one of the best game player in Vietnam now.
RGN: Do you have any advice for DotA gamers who desire to be a professional gamer?
SkyNet.Lonely: You have to practice to improve your skills as well as team-work. Furthermore, you have actively view the replays as well as the defeats to analyze and fix your mistakes. The most important thing is to confront the players who are better than you.
RGN: Thank you very much for your time. We wish you all the best and a successful DotA career.
