Amos “Avenge” Goh hand Juan “Axis” Miguel form a formidable partnership. Professional shooters in the Sci-fi FPS (First Person Shooter) genre of Halo, they are a tough pair to beat—if they can be even beaten at all. Going through the recent Halo Reach tournament in Singapore without losing a set, the duo is quickly becoming the benchmark for what competitive gamers for the popular Xbox 360 title should aspire to be.

Having started gaming at the very vernal age of seven, Amos, as young as he currently is, is very much considered a veteran in the sport. “I started playing Halo when the first Xbox came out (2001), [and] started competitive gaming when I was eleven,” recalls the hardcore gamer who is proud that his team, despite the very frail Halo scene in recent years, has stuck to their guns—figuratively and almost literally. “Miguel is probably the most skilled Halo player right now in Singapore,” describes Amos of his industrious teammate, “though he has nerve issues, I guess I was able to pass on my positive mental mindset to keep him calm during our matches.”

Being in the scene since its conception, Amos has racked up quite a list of accomplishments. “I’ve always been in top 5 in most tournaments including WCG and GXL,” relates Amos. Prior to the Halo Reach tournament at Tough Cookie, the gifted sharpshooter found himself narrowly outgunned (by three kills!) by Pro MLG player Walshy (Dave Walsh) at the 10th Halo Anniversary held in Singapore late 2011. Even so, losing is quite the rarity for Amos who’s other high profile unbeaten run landed him the 2008 WCG Singapore Halo crown.

“Going undefeated in a tournament again really shows that we are a really dominant team in the competitive Halo scene here in Singapore. All I can say is Miguel was just too good and that’s why we were able to do it,” spoke Amos in admiration of partner. However, unlike his brother in arms, Amos has had little time to practice his trade religiously in recent times, citing his commitment to other eSports games such as DotA 2.

Looking into the future, Amos has set his sights on gold for every competition his team is going to participate in. “Winning every (Halo) tournament, if there are anymore this year, would be our goal,” he declares. But even so, the forward looking Xbox 360 veteran has plenty of thanks for the people who help him get to where he is today. “Shoutout to CrossCounterAsia and Yong De, and be sure to check them out at crosscountertv! And of course shoutout to all my gaming buddies especially Michael, Eugene, Ryan and Baer!”
