The Phillip Bell Cup 2011

Frag or be fragged.  When the Phillip Bell Cup 2011 kicks into overdrive this May, bullets will fly and the casualty list will be infinitely long.  The only reprieve is that he who has faith in his team mates and executes the better battle plan on the day, will emerge the victor.

First blood will be drawn at the qualifiers which will take place on the 16th to 17th April for Vietnam, 23rd to 24th April for Malaysia, and30th April to 1st May for Singapore and Thailand.

The tournament structure will follow that of a double elimination format, in which winners of the respective groups (teams are broken into 2 brackets depending on their performance in the first game) will do battle for the honor to represent their nations at the Grand Finals which are to be held at the International Convention Centre, Brunei Darussalam.

“We will be using de_dust2 and de_nuke for the qualifiers as these maps will test the team’s firepower, flash-points (areas where flashes are dispatched to blind enemies) and reactions at critical moments when backing up each other,” as Mr Elvin Yap of Mystery Box Entertainment LLP explains,  “whereas in the finals, we will be using de_train and de_tuscan as these maps possess great dynamics and many hiding spots; definitely lots of poking and hiding to be carried out by the players.”

Expect nothing less than fireworks when favorites, such as Team XQR and Team Legends, amongst many others lay siege on the grand prize of BND 5,000 (excluding trophies and other merchandise), and earn the bragging rights to being the best team in the region.
