“preZ|lemion has joined the game.”
Looking up, I find myself faced with an entire team of people sporting a familiar clan tag. The tag of team Impreza, a team that accomplished much and rose to represent Singapore in the 2008 DotA Asian Cyber Games before vanishing for over a year. The team name itself surfaced in the Singaporean scene at the start of this year. Lemion, perhaps their most famous player, went on to join Kingsurf.SG before also mysteriously disappearing from the scene at the end of the Asian Cyber Games in July 2009.
Wasting no time, I catch up with Lemion, their appointed representative, as well as another player who is well-known with another nick but has insisted that I refer to him as Hamtaro, and find out more about their team.
Me: So, what is your team's current lineup?
Lem: Valk, Lemion, xmiew, Seabear, and Hamtaro
No more information is provided other than the nicks. Pretty secretive, it seems.
Me: So, why is the team name “Impreza” again?
Lem: Cause no team name.
Lem: And I like the team name.
Lem: But, whatever, lol.
Me: How did you guys form together?
Lem: Xmiew and Valk are online friends.
Lem: Then Hamtaro and Seabear asked me to form with them.
At this point, I ask about Lemion's long break from the competitive scene.
Me: Why play now then?
Lem: I play because my O levels are over.
Hamtaro: Because we got no team for Singapore competitions.
The lack of TruEnEtprO in this lineup, the leader of the old Team Impreza, prompts me to ask the next question, albeit adding some degree of vagueness to perhaps sift out any additional information.
Me: Were there any other players you wanted in your lineup?
Lem: Jovi (TruE). But he's not going to competitive because of his studies.
Me: How often do you guys train?
Hamtaro: Lem every time come home damn late.
Hamtaro: Then Seabear and me have school so we have to sleep early.
Hamtaro: Not much time to train.
Hamtaro: Only can train mostly in the weekend.
Me: How has it been so far?
Hamtaro: Losing every game. Damn noob ):
Hamtaro: Hope can don't FRO.
Lem: Team skill actually, frankly speaking, only okay at the moment.
Me: Any memorable victories?
Hamtaro: YES. We 30-1 Lim Yang's (MyWishIsToDie) team.
Conflicting answers? Perhaps, but actions speak louder then words, and I proceed to find out when they can show their prowess.
Me: Any competition you guys intend to join?
Lem: 17th January. Got one competition at Katong I think.
Me: Chances of winning?
Hamtaro: Must see the next few trainings.
Hamtaro: Still quite a new team! Don't know yet.
Lem: Dunno. LOL.
Definitely, a follow-up interview will be well deserved once Impreza proves their mettle. For now though, this team is riding on the old team name of some of their players, hoping to achieve as good or better results.
