It’s that time of the year again, the accumulation of a nation’s eSports meets—where history is written and champions are born, and it all happens under one roof. Back again and every bit as good as before, the PGF (Pinoy Gaming Festival) makes its return following its massive success in 2011. Come October, eSports enthusiasts in the Philippines will be treated to a plethora of competitive gaming activities, unparallel live commentary, appearances by international guests and freebies galore.
PGF 2012 Venue
Running for two days starting on the 27th of October (Saturday) till the 28th, the event will feature a total of eight competitive games; namely DotA, DOTA 2, StarCraft 2, CS:GO, World of Tanks (WoT), Crossfire, Dragon Nest and the League of Legends (LoL). Held inside the grand edifice of the SMX Convention Centre (Hall 3), the stage is set for some of the most exciting eSports showdowns yet. Already announced for the games on the official site were several major international and national tournaments; such as the WCG, ACG and SMM qualifiers, as well as the GIGABYTE Mineski Pro-Gaming Leagues (GMPGL) and the National Cyber Collegiate League (NCCL).
Specifically, the champions of Crossfire and the World of Tanks will be sent to Kunshan, China, where the grand finals of the WCG are slated for play. Winners of DOTA 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, will be on their way to Malaysia for the ACG finals come end of the year. Similarly, the triumphant few who take the DotA crown at the GMPGL games will follow the victors of the two previously mentioned games to Malaysia for the SMM grand finals.
Do take note however that if you are selected to travel, you are reminded that you will be needed to produce your passport before the end of the event. Participants here are advised to act on these instructions responsibly as organizers will only be assisting in the processing of Visas to China for the WCG finals (Crossfire and World of Tanks).
Recently announced on the official site was the registration dates. Opening on the 24th of September 2012, the Monday will mark the opening the registration season. Interested gamers or parties are advised to pen your participation as soon as possible because slots will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. In addition, tickets for the said event are also available for visitors with only P70/day at all SM Ticket Outlets.
