When talking about eSports in Myanmar, people just know a few things about this stuff in this country. So today, we want to present you an interview with the greatest DotA team from Myanmar, they name “Team G7” with Yone, team manager, and Kenji, team captain.

Yone, G7’s manager

Kenji, G7’s captain

RGN: At first, let’s introduce yourself to reader.

Kenji:

I am Kenji, and I played DotA about 6 years. My team is “Team G7” and it’s about 3 years since 2009.

Yone: G7 was formed in a Cyber Cafe. Cyber Café owner is Ko Lin. He recruited some good players and formed this G7. At those time there was no Kenji, only Leo and Aiden. They were the real former players. They lost a lot of games, so at that time, they weren’t a success team. Since that time, there were a lot of good players and teams such as Destiny , Double Damage, Dispersion and etc. We didn’t have a chance to win. But after some few months, when Ko Lin met Kenji and Kalay (Yipzi3), they fought against a lot of famous teams and the very first local trophy was late December of 2010. YTP Dota Championship.

Kenji: Wait. And then we won another competition. We took all the champions in local at about 2011 May. We recruited a new team, called Wave. In there, we found a talented player, called showti. Then, we invited him to join us. Our very first time global competition is ESTC in Thailand.

Yone: We lost at that competition because of our mistake. We have been wiped out in the group stage. We didn’t know the rule that was counted by hero kills, not the time difference. So we lost there. Another one is SMM. We lost IG , DK, Nirvana.cn and left the tournament, although we played our best . That time, we had to leave our best teammate, Leo, in Myanmar, since he got visa issue.

At SMM 2011 (Malaysia)

RGN: About GEST event, how was it?

Yone: It was nice, but I think we have to train more to win this competition. Now we train daily. Recently, Aiden was out of our clan due to his personal reasons. We just recruited Vrkat (former Captain of Xtr team – Myanmar). He is a really good player. We have to see how we will go.

RGN: How can you join into GEST?

Yone: We were invited.

RGN: Who’s your biggest rival in this competition?

Kenji: Mineski

RGN: Do you have any match you like the most in GEST?

Kenji: The first that we against with XctN, their home match.

Yone: We still need to train back our teamwork, strategy and roles again.

Kenji: I think we’re lack of online matches.

Yone: Yes, and experience, too. We never play online matches before.

RGN: Let’s talk about your team. Which rank are you in Myanmar this day?

Yone: Okay. The 1st I guess. Recently we won KGD and Super9 competition.

RGN: I think the world only know a few things about eSports in Myanmar. Could you tell me more about Myanmar gaming community?

Yone: Myanmar gaming community. There is no such a thing in Myanmar. Most of the people make competition for their Cyber cafe only. Once there got an association called 4AM. They ruined Myanmar DotA Community. They divided as Professional and Amateur class. Then, all the competitions are made for amateur only. No more for professional, so we are lack of matches.

RGN: Is DotA a most popular game in Myanmar?

Kenji: Yeah.

RGN: So every gamer in Burma (another name of Myanmar) play it?

Kenji: I guess the most. Another game is Counter-Strike, but not much as DotA.

Yone: Don’t forget World of WarCraft though.

RGN: What’s your plan to improve your team?

Yone: Well…

Kenji: We need to do more training on online and discussing strategy.

Yone: We will train more online.

Kenji: We have to play more international matches and farm experience. After ESTC, our pick & ban strategy is different from past.

RGN: Which team you always practice and spending time with the most?

Yone: Local Teams.

RGN: When DotA2 is official released, will you move to play DotA 2 or play it both DotA?

Kenji: Yeah.

Yone:

Maybe. Not so sure. We have to realize that which one is more popular or something. We have to think about this condition first.

RGN: Lastly, do u want to say something to your fans?

Yone: We will try our best and we train every single day.

Kenji: We’ll make our country famous in DotA

Kenji: We will try, try and try. We will never give up, until we made our country famous in DotA. LOL. Yeah , We will try to win a trophy in big competitions and let people know that we are here in Myanmar.
