RGN Exclusive interview.

RGN: Before Garena was launched, how did play DotA?

SkyNet.Zelda:

I had played DotA on many different platforms before Garena was launched. The first one that must be mentioned is the Kalimdor ladder system, which I was played Warcraft 3 in melee. Random games were selected automatically by this ladder system. After which, I moved over to Hamachi. However, Hamachi had a downside of lagging by 1 second. Garena was launch soon after and I have been using it since then. Garena features are remarkably good as it overcomes delaying with “tunnel” function and split rooms across different countries to make it more accessible for one to choose.

RGN: When you decide to play a new game, how long would you focus your attention for each game?

SkyNet.Zelda:

This also depends on each game. If the game is compelling, of course I’ll play it longer. But if the game is not interesting enough, I’ll quit. The longest game I played is DotA, I have been playing it for over 5 years!

RGN: How did you feel about your current achievements in various competitions, happy or disappointed?

SkyNet.Zelda:

Each tournament, each title brought me different feelings. The Tournament that I felt most proud of was the Garena Online Premium Series, when my team overcame StarsBoba – the number one gaming team in Vietnam during the final. But the most disappointing tournament was the Razer Cyzone DotA. My team almost got our hands on the championship. Anyway, I am not a perfectionist, so I am completely satisfied with what I have achieved so far.

RGN: Any sacrifices you made in order to pursue this path?

SkyNet.Zelda:

Quite a lot, apart from friends in DotA, I do not have time to hang out with others, to give up my passion for basketball or dancing. At first, I faced up with many difficulties in learning because I could not balance time for study and for DotA.

RGN: Are there any unique trades which you or your team do before or during the competition? For example, praying before every match, stare at your opponent’s picture the night before, etc.

SkyNet.Zelda:

Before starting of a game, I have a habit of encouraging my team-mates. I always tell them: “We are the strongest team; we are the champions, no matter who the rivals are.”. Indeed it has achieved certain performance and we are proud of it.

Team SkyNet DotA

RGN: Have you learn any positive values from your gaming career? If so, what are they and how did it improve you as a person?

SkyNet.Zelda:

The biggest thing I have learned from DotA is collectiveness. An individual can be extremely small, but when many individuals gathered together, it will create a tremendous power. This is what I apply in my life as well.

RGN: Besides gaming, are you good at other things?

SkyNet.Zelda:

Besides DotA, I am also proud of Physics. I studied at a high level of the 3 best schools in Vietnam. 7 years to implement a good student of physics, unfortunately I did not win any awards in this field. (Laughs)

RGN: Lastly, any recommend places to train? Which player(s) to watch and what to watch out for?

If you are in Hanoi, you can come to Skynet Gaming. They have a mechanical system which is designed to serve the professional needs in many different aspects of eSports. And of course, you can follow and watch us, Skynet DotA team, during competition. (Laughs)

RGN: Thank you for your time and we wish you all the best for your future competitions.
