Spartans never die they say—and this is why the saying doesn’t either. What they do however is respawn a heck lot of times and there’s been plenty of that going down recently. The Halo Global Championships is in session with the competition heading into its fourth week. With over USD$500,000 worth of cash and prizes up for grabs it is the biggest Halo event of the year.

The contest is opened to everyone with a working copy of Halo 4 and an active Xbox Live Gold subscription. Hosted on Halo Waypoint, in conjunction with Microsoft Studies, 343 Industries and Virgin Mobile, the global tournament, which straddles three months July to September will feature different game types, mixed up every week, corresponding with a different set of prizes up till the final week.

The Grand Finals, which will take place in Seattle, Washington, will play out on the week following 30th August and will see a total of 256 players battling it out for the top prize of USD$200,000. Registration for the final week, as with the current one, is still open so pen your participation if you have not done so already.

Running concurrently with the weekly slayings are generous sweepstakes in which one may win for him or herself an Xbox 360 (750 units to give away) or miscellaneous Avatar items (1,500 pieces up for grabs).
