With the gaming and eSports industry really stepping up, one group from Myanmar decided to explore mainstream gaming – Ivan Htet and Htet Win Lwin officially published the first gaming magazine for gamers in Myanmar.
Quick trivia about the person behind the magazine. Ivan himself is also a gamer and plays WoW (World of Warcraft). The masterplan started out April 2012 in Singapore when both Ivan and Htet, along with their colleagues, came up with a wild idea of having a Gaming Magazine that would focus “purely on games”.
The aim of this Magazine, according to its management, is primarily to help and guide out local gamers to better understand different games. They also believed that Myanmar Gamers can compete internationally and due to the poor internet infrastructure in Myanmar, they decided on having a printed magazine rather than go online.
Gamers Magazine officially published their first edition in September 2012 and is distributed in all major towns. They cover mainly steam games like DOTA 2, Counter Strike and Real Time-Strategy (RTS) games.
At the moment, according to Htet, the magazine is well received by readers and they are aiming to share even more information with local gamers so that they are able to connect with other gamers primarily from the South-East Asian region.
More can be expected from Gamers Magazine as they are also planning to build their own website for online readers and they are planning to venture into events such as LAN competitions for DOTA and Counter-Strike probably in May 2013.
