Pinoy Gaming Festival 2012 Summer Assembly was held on 5 and 6 of May. Gamers and fans from all over the country gathered at the Cyberzone, SM North Edsa Annex, and the whole event was a blast at the mall.

The National Cyber Collegiate League was a part of the event, where 12 universities/colleges competed for the whopping P60,000 prize pool in total, and the winner would also take home the Aegis Cup. ADMU, JRU, XU, SVC, TIP, UST, FEU, DLSU, CSB, CIT-U, PUP and UPHD were the 12 schools who competed on the league. Each team represents their own school color.

There was also the DotA 2 Invitational Tournament, with P17,500 prize pool was up for grabs. The imba Class S teams from the Gigabyte Mineski Pro Gaming League, and top tier teams from all over the country competed on the tournament.

The StarCraft fans had also something to watch. Day 1 – Saturday, May 5th, 2012

The first day of the event was great. The 12 teams were divided into 4 groups. Group A was made up of PUP, UPHD and FEU. Group B was made up of CIT-U, CSB and ADMU. Group C was made up of DLSU, JRU and XU. Group D was made of SVC, UST and TIP. All of the teams were ready to compete for the P60,000 prize pool in total and the Aegis Cup.

The DotA 2 Invitational was as intense as the NCCL. The teams were all ready to brawl with each other. All eyes were on the two teams of the GMPGL namely Dreamz Ledion and Mineski HyperX. Everybody was shocked with the new line up of both teams, as the Mineski Infinity star player Julius “Julz” De Leon joined Dreamz Ledion, and the child prodigy Fernando “Nando” Mendoza of MSI Evolution Gaming Team played for Mineski HyperX. Despite of the absence of Julz in their team, Mineski proved that they still got the power to win. Mineski’s Owa got rampage during the game against Tech 9. Both of these teams won their matches. Another shocking thing happened when an all-star lined up team joined the tournament, lined up Mineski CEO and President Ronald Robins, Orange E-Sports’ Kenchi Yap and Mineski Grounds’ players Tony Senedrin, Jessie Cuyco and Bong Silva formed a team named Team Responsible Gaming. The team was named Responsible Gaming to promote the proper gaming and studying habits. The team proved that they were tough enough to compete and they did won against team Bye and Apple Park. It was a great performance for Team Responsible Gaming.

The StarCraft II fans were also in the event watching the StarCraft II Invitational tournament. Everybody’s eyes are set on BenQ Mineski Enderr and Mineski WaningMoon. Their match during the recent GMPGL was one of the hottest and closed matches that people had ever seen, so everyone was looking for whether they could face each other again. But unluckily, they didn’t meet during the tournament. Enderr continued to prove himself as the best by defeating Pacific.Nuks and Mineski Pobbes to advance in the grand finals. But eXorbitants’ pride, Megsyo, did not let his opponent take all the spotlight by defeating BenQ Mineski Jabito, made him advance to the semi finals. Once again, as a candidate for the champion title, he competed against Mineski WaningMoon, one of the strongest StarCraft II players in the country, drew the game point and went to the grand finals.

After a long day everything was settled. The NCCL group stage was concluded with FEU, CSB, XU, UST, CIT-U, PUP, TIP and DLSU all advancing to the main tournament. The DotA 2 invitational tournament was also concluded with the top 4 teams remaining namely Dreamz, Duskbin, Mineski HyperX and Responsible Gaming. The StarCraft II tournament was settled as BenQ Mineski Enderr meets eXo.Megsyo in the grand finals. Everybody was excited for Day 2.

Day 2 – Sunday, May, 6th, 2012

Everyone was definitely waiting for the sun to rise for Day 2. The day started with some NCCL action. XU and FEU faced each other in a stage match. FEU’s player Lorgan did a great performance. After a long match, FEU was crowned as the winner.

Mineski also launched their PGF Photo Booth, where everyone were free to take pictures. There were also some fun signs to grab that says “Alam mo yan” (You know it)“Tiwala lang” (Just Believe) and “Papalag naman eh!” (I know we can do it). Everybody in the event got chance to visit the photo booth.

The excitement of the DotA 2 tournament during day 1 still remained when Dreamz faced Duskbin. Both teams were known as two of the most imba teams in the Philippines. With former Mineski player Julz on Dreamz roster, there was a whole new different aura and chemistry. At the end, Duskbin remained supreme and they advanced to the grand finals. The grand finals was hot as two of the best DotA teams in Philippines face off, Mineski versus Duskbin. But Mineski cannot stop the power of Duskbin, when they defeated Mineski at the end and claimed the champion title.

The Crossfire tournament happened on the 2nd day, and brought some exciting FPS action at the event. The grand finals was interesting as BatibotPH faced IamWara. Both teams were great and they show all what they’ve got and after and IamWara won after all, and go home with the bag full of P10,000.

The Starcraft II finals was BenQ Mineski Enderr faced eXo Megsyo. eXo Megsyo could not overcome the mighty of Mineski Enderr. In the end, Mineski Enderr reigned supreme. He was crowned as the StarCraft II Champion and took home P7,500.

The finals of the NCCL was unpredictable when TIP met FEU because both of them have not experienced any defeat during the tournament. The match started fast because both teams prepared for their core items, but later on became intense and hot. After all, FEU was crowned as the NCCL Season 1 Champion, took home the Aegis Cup and the whopping P30,000. Everybody was impressed with the way FEU competed.
