Le Xuan Nghia ‘Beepvn’  (First from the right)

RGN: Hi beepvn, it’s nice to meet you! Will you introduce yourself and your DotA career for us?

Beepvn: Hi RGN, I started playing DotA when I was grade 10. At that time, a friend “lures” me to play DotA with a group at school Hanoi – Ams. At first, I myself established a team named WtF, which included my close friends. Then, my team merged with the LR team, which was the best team in Hanoi – Ams at that time, and the captain was Songnhi who was familiar with Hanoi DotA community. After the merger, we got the new team named NB – New Beginning. Our team had a time to dominate in Vietnam’s battle.net server. And from there, my DotA career began.

RGN: I’ve known you played for many DotA teams so I think you had many special memories with them, right?

During my DotA career, I joined many teams such as WtF, nB, proA, 9x. The most memorable when I was competing DotA that was when our team nB in a tournaments in NetViet. At that time, there was no team in Hanoi could defeat Netviet team which led by captain “Thanh ngong”, even a match! At that time, it was the last match in our group with 4 teams, and my team met NetViet. Everyone thought our chances of winning NetViet team was zero because our team could not compare to their team, and we also thought that! With the thought “we had nothing to lose”, our team decided to choose a new strategy, which was practiced one day before: 4 pushers and 1 carry, which was Soul Keeper. This strategy was a completely new tactic and thanks to our surprise, my team defeated NetViet – a thing that no one could ever think of. Only regret was that group had three teams with equal points, and at that time, there was no rule of Time Rating. We had to make a knockout draw and unfortunately, my team was eliminated.

About 9x team, we really had too many memories, stretching throughout the tournaments together. They are my good friends, good teammates, and they also the team brought me so many achievements during my DotA career.

RGN: I watched you competing League of Legends in many tournaments. The time when you started playing LoL was so hard, wasn’t it?

Beepvn: If the DotA is only a custom map based on WarCraft III and there are no company sponsors, League of Legends is totally different. LoL has a developer, with the major companies stand behind the tournament organizer, and above all after one year released, League of Legends was chosen as the WCG tournament game. From this point, I realized that if I really want to go professional and live with eSports, League of Legends would be a smart choice. When switched to LoL, I had also invited my friends in 9x team to join this game but perhaps the problem that was they did not want to practice the new game, so they still stick to DotA until now.

RGN: Your current team was all funny guys when I met them in some tournaments before. I want to know about them more and more, please tell me about them!

Beepvn: Currently I am playing for the LoL team named The Zoo. My teammates are “o Elephant o”, “o Shark o”, “o Globefish o”, “o Cat o” and I – Beep. “Elephant” is the captain of The Zoo, with special playstyle (sometimes screw up our game), he is always a dangerous object that enemies want to kill, and he often plays as solo-top position and AD-carrier. The next one is Shark, with his careful playstyle; he is a jungler and lane-ganker. Globefish and Cat is AD-carry and Supporter, this duo is always a danger for the opposing teams.

RGN: I wonder how much time you spend for LoL a day? I play LoL 2 hours a day and I’m sure you may play this game as twice as I do.

Beepvn: This time due to busy work on my company, I should not spend much time for LoL. Everyday I just play a game to get First Win only.

I focus on playing a role as AP. I often play Rank Solo Queue to practice solo mid-lane. Besides, I also watch VODs of the world famous player; I usually pay attention to how to handle and thinking of the player in different situations to see how they think and what they will do in that situation.

RGN: I heard you worked at Garena for a while and got some successes there. But why did you leave Garena?

Beepvn: I worked for Garena Vietnam in position as an editor. Besides the task of introducing new maps, I must also organize events and tournaments for community. In Garena, the working atmosphere is very comfortable, I really like work environment like that!

Time in Garena gives me the great impression. Everyone in Garena is not just colleague but also brothers, sisters of mine. Garena can be said that is a big family, not just one company. After leaving Garena, I work for FPT now.

RGN: It’s time for hobbies! I always love hearing about other’s hobby because it’s so interesting.

Beepvn: My hobbies are as well as many other boys: Technology and …girls.

I love techs, especially the headset, sometimes just buy to look, but not use frequently. About “girls” hobby, I don’t want to tell about it.

RGN: You are the type of person who are always willing to learn new things and I am sure that it made you a very special gamer. I am curious about your “ability to learn”, will you tell me about it?

Beepvn: My forte is the ability to learn, making handmade things and computer skills. I can do many things and I never surrender with anything at all. The best memory with me probably the first time I made a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. I made a house by many tongue-pressed rods but I had to use scissor to cut it. When I finished, my hand was injured because of holding scissor too long.

I am confident with my ability, it can be said is not something I cannot do. My motto is that what people can do, I can do and do it even better!

RGN: Your intentions in real life maybe abundant and I think it will affect your gaming career much. So can I see you in competitive gaming tournaments in 2012?

Beepvn: I am looking ahead to finish my university degree. And perhaps I will end my gaming career. Anyway I must also thank to eSports, it has given me the best moments of my life, with sincere brothers who were always beside me. I will always remember those memories!
