V1lat was recently interviewed by teamliquid.net and spoke about the StarLadder Season 5, DOTA 2 and its future in eSports.
Starting off the interview, V1lat said that he has been addicted to games since a very young age. However, since he had no access to a PC initially, he used to spend his time playing games on a 16-bit SEGA or PlayStation 1.
He finally got his own computer in 2004 and from then on, started to play games like FIFA, Warcraft 3 and the original StarCraft. “It was only a matter of time before I got addicted to eSports”, he related to TeamLiquid.
Speaking about StarLadder, V1lat mentioned that because of the largely positive response to DOTA 2 tournaments held at the Cyberarena, the organisers were motivated to re-host StarLadder and hopefully make a huge impact in the eSports industry. As one of the organisers of StarLadder, he revealed that the major issue he faced was the scheduling of matches and that “teams [needed] to be more professional”. Lastly, he felt that teams like Na`Vi and Empire had zero chance of winning the next International unless they visit Asian countries like China prior to the event and started a boot-camp there.
V1lat’s immense hard work and dedication has helped StarLadder enter its fifth season this year. The playoffs have already kicked off with Group 1 teams, many of which have undergone roster changes since the last instalment of StarLadder.
With the recent loss of Vigoss from team el’Pride, they played their first game against 3D and were brutally crushed. Absolute Legends had also announced a roster change prior to StarLadder but were still able to net their first win against TCM. In the remaining matches played, perhaps not surprisingly, 4FC were defeated by FOTA while Empire was able to register a win against PR.
