Teams to up the ante at the Alienware Arena Regional Finals

With the curtains going down on the preliminary rounds of the Alienware Arena Game Victorious Battlegrounds 2012, the stage is now set for the games’ Regional Finals. Teams that have made it past the first cut will have to up the ante on their A game because with over US$100,000 worth of prizes at stake, things are about to get even more antsy. Sprawled over several countries in the region; notably Malaysia-Singapore, Australia-New Zealand, India, Japan and China the Alienware Arena Game Victorious Battlegrounds 2012 is by far one of the more ambitious eSports projects to be played inside Asia this year.

 

The causeway collective of Singapore and Malaysia will look to host the Dota 2 Open Playoffs from the 12th of September to the 2nd of October, 2012, in which a total of 32 registered teams will play for the top four spots in this ladder series which will see the highflying quartet faceoff stiffer opposition in the form of the professionals—from the Elites playoffs beginning 19 to September. This will only happen on the 17th till the 23 of October, when the online Regional Finals commences.

With the likes of Zenith of Singapore, and Orange Esports, MUFC from Malaysia having already sealed their spots for the playoffs, expect nothing less than nonpareil action of the MOBA variety later this month. Winners of the Dota 2 Regional Finals, regardless of region, will be gifted a spot in the LAN finals at ACG Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) that is to be held in December this year. Still within the same region, the LOL, Dragons Nest and FIFA Online 2 Regional Finals have been flagged to kickoff this month too at dates of 12th to 18th September, 26th September to 2nd October, and 19th to 25th September respectively. All games will be played on a single elimination-Best of 3 system where the top four ranking teams at the end of the event will be awarded cash prizes totaling US$4,000. With fan favorites such as Orange Esports and the Kuala Lumpur Hunters among the many illustrious teams at the LOL Regional Finals, SEA Summoners will once again be treated to tantalizing display of top notch LOL gameplay. Elsewhere, the Indian Dota 2 Open Playoffs are due for play on 5th of September and will run till the 16th of the same month; whereas, the Elite tournament will commence on the 22th and run till the 23th of September. This will then be followed by the Regional Finals, which will be played over the 6th to 7rd October. In addition, the LOL Regional Finals for India will be played out on the 5th of October. Here winners of all games will play for a cumulative prize pool of US$11,000. Further East, in Australia-New Zealand, the DOTA 2 Open Playoffs is already in session since 30thAugust and will look to reach a climatic conclusion come 31st October. Running concurrently, the Elite competition will be played from the same start date of 30th August and finish on 25thSeptember. And slated for a month long play session beginning on the 12th of September and running till the 9th of October will be the Dota 2 Regional Finals.

Almost half the duration of the Dota 2 Regionals will be the LOL Regional Finals. Featuring the likes of Absolute Legends, the tournament will take place from the 5th to 19th September. And finally, the Regional Finals for Team Fortress 2 will come to be on the 12th and run till the 19th of September. Gamers here will fight for a slice of the US$12,000 on offer, which excludes the additional US$3,000 allotted for the Regional Finals.
