Team Kingsurf, still one of the best Dota teams in Malaysia, performed admirably in the SMM tournament. We felt obliged to interview them after their recent performance. To help us with our interview, we had our Dota correspondent Underminer interviewing Ks-Papaxiong. He replies in length about his opinions, such as the way Malaysian Dota and gaming can move forward. Also on the agenda was Cybertime underperforming and his golden advice on how to play the game. Enjoy the interview.

1. Malaysian teams in general performed admirably, knocking out the European powerhouse MYM at the group stages but came up short in preventing a top-3 finish by the Chinese. How you rate our nation's overall performance and what do you think we, as a community can do to improve the scene further?

I will rate Malaysia’s overall performance as a modest 60 as I see an improvement in the scene’s capability compared to last year even though we failed to prevent a 1,2,3 finish by the Chinese teams.

From my observation, o move forward Malaysia’s drafts and styles needs to be adopted and in some cases copied from others.
To learn something new and win, we have no choice but to train more with foreign teams and adopt their styles to beat them as this is the only way I see Malaysia to stand a chance in future tournaments.
The scene in general have perfect in-game skills but lack the tactical acumen and macro game knowledge to win big games and this is where analyzing replays of outsiders comes into play.

Written by SpotGamers    Wednesday, 18 November 2009 10:54    Read : 955 times PDF Print E-mail

Team LZ has qualified for the Dreamhack Winter finals for the Counter Strike competition in Sweden. For a game that has been seeing little in terms of tournament action, team LZ will be pleased that they have managed to book a spot to prove that they are still the best in Malaysia. Here, in an exclusive interview with Team LZ captain Gavin, he talks about his joy of making the Finals in Sweden, and about his newly created Facebook page for team LZ. Check out their Facebook page here, href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/pages/Team-LZ/195644141822">. It contains all the information and news for team LZ.

Here comes the interview:

1. Congratulations for winning the Malaysia Qualifier. You are representing Malaysia for the Dreamhack Winter CS competition. How are you looking forward to it?

Thank you , we are very excited about the trip to meet the rest of the world and show what Malaysia is capable of doing.

2. When the scores are tied 14-14 in the final of the qualifier, you managed to score the 2 crucial points to book your ticket. What was going through your mind?

The only thing that was in my mind is to bring victory to my team and I will not let the Championship slip away from my hand.

3. What are the keys to your success in Malaysia?

Our key to successis because I have four other very experienced players and all of them are the top players in Malaysia on my side, which is certainly better. We only prepared 2 weeks before the event so I guess luck and our understanding to each other won us the trip.

4. How confident are you of succeeding in Sweden?

We are carrying the flag of Malaysia and are ready to make Malaysia proud, a top 8 finished will be good for us since we can’t find any local teams to train with.

5. You are playing the big boys like SK gaming. How are you guys going to beat them?

We should not be afraid of them, as honestly I have met them in IEF 2009 at Korea with one of my current teammate Hix, I believe our full team can give them a good fight.

6. We saw the new Facebook page for Team Lz you created. Anything you’d like to tell our readers about it?

Team LZ is promoting e-sports in malaysia instead of ourselves, our goal is simple, which is aiming to grow the e-sports scene here and to do that of course we need support from the likes Spotgamers. Also, big thanks to Go.international group Jasmine Low, Acer , E-clubs , Altec Lansing , DiGi , Razer , Indie Youth Fest to make the event happen (the Dreamhack qualifier), without them we wouldn’t have a trip to look forward to for showing our skills.
