RGN had an interview with the gamers who are representing Singapore at the ongoing IeSF Challenge. Their names are shortened to their initials for convenience. Phirkhan (PH) Marcus Tan (MT) Hang Wei (HW)
What's your impression of Taebaek City so far? HW: Cold PH: Reasonably ok, it’s unique to have it up in the mountains, so I’m looking forward to see how it goes for the next few days. MT: Very awesome, first time see snow. But not as crowded as Chengdu How's your stay at the O2 Ski Resort? MT: The facilities here are quite good.. HW: Except there’s no wireless PH: Well, it’s a special place, I'm looking forward to the event as well as other activities
How do you guys find the weather compared to let's say, Singapore?
MT: Awesome, far more sensational than Singapore, that’s for sure. PH: Fabulous, obviously. As a Singaporean, I love colder countries Will the cold weather affect your gameplay? MT: The indoor practice area is quite warm HW: Ditto PH: Not really, as I have been to other countries to practise and am used to it. Do you feel that adapting to environment changes is important in performing at major tournaments? MT: Yes of course, gamers must always be flexible, otherwise they will never be good. Who do you pick as favorites to win? Why? MT: I would say SK.WhO for Warcraft III PH: Most of the Asian countries would stand a chance, but we should never underestimate our European counterparts as they are FIFA legends. Basically anything goes. How do you feel about the chances for the rest of the Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia, Vietnam and India? PH: By right India should have a good chance at FIFA Online 2, but their top player is not attending this event. MT: I think Vietnam’s chances are slim as their strong players are all not attending.
Does your family know that you are here having fun? All: Hahahahhahhahahah
Well, are they supportive? MT: A big no for me! HW: My parents are supportive PH: Why are you guys giving one liners? For my case, I’m blessed, my parents and girlfriend and friends support me. How do you balance attending these events with your normal lives? Does it affect anything? PH: What normal life? MT: For me yes, this week is a test week, and I have to postpone one of the test just to attend the event. PH: Then don’t attend! MT: But it’s postponed already, so it’s ok. Anyway as for me, education comes first. After the IeSF Challenge, are there other tournaments that you are preparing for? PH: Not really, this should be the last event for the year. There will be some preparation for the new year. HW: Same answer as Phirkhan MT: I think most probably my next overseas tourny will be WCG 2010, as there are not many Warcraft III tournaments. PH: I’m going to take a break for these few months and spend more time with my loved ones. HW: I’d definitely go on playing FIFA MT: For me I will normally play other games for leisure
